Howdy! I'm looking at purchasing a 1999 L 3710d from an in-state dealer. He has 3 available. 2 of them have loaders and box scrapers and about 1200 hours each. Is this a lot of hours? The 3rd one he has is equipted with an hydraulic box scraper. I heard it's about a $3000. item. This tractor has about 1900 hours. My question is: is this a lot of hours. This is my first tractor purchase and I don't want to get a worn out unit. The price is about $15,000. with loaders and box scrapers. Thanks for the help. they are all the hst tranny

The number of hours can be a relative thing. I'd look at it this way. If they were commercial units, a year's worth of full time work is about 2000 hours. So you could think of them as seven month old machines. I'm thinking a lifetime for these machines would be about 10,000 hours. They shouldn't be anywhere near worn out.

I agree with Dave on this. We have a 80's vintage in the lot that we used for snow removal this year that has over 6500 original hours on it and it has never been torn down and it still started without assist below 20 degree's below 0! Those hours just got it broken in look over the tractor's to see if the sheet metal is bent from misuse or if there were parts replaced on the hitch from improper operation and make your call but they have a lot of life left. ....

If they were properly maintained those hours are nothing at all.
Some of my machines (see picture # 6) do that many hours a year, EVERY year.
As Art mentioned, they're just nicely broken in, that's all.
If you think of hours on a tractor in terms of mileage on a vehicle, 1000 hours at an average speed of 45 mph would only be 45,00 miles. If it was properly maintained would you be concerned about a pickup with 45k on the clock?
Best of luck. ....
